- Open your full color image.
- Decide which part you will
mask out as your subject.
- Select the Magnetic Lasso
Tool (
 ).
- Outline your subject with the
Magnetic Lasso Tool.
- Go to Edit and then choose
Copy.
- Convert the image to grayscale
by going to Image, Mode and then Grayscale.
- Choose
Don't Flatten if prompted.
- Go to Image, Mode
and then convert your image back to color (RGB, CMYK,
etc.).
- With the Mask still on, go to
Edit and then choose Paste Into.
